At Tart Bakery, we celebrate every day. Located in the Park Cities area of Dallas, we prepare the highest quality artisan crafted desserts, sweet treats, and celebration centerpieces for both wholesale clients and retail guests. ​

Looking for a birthday cake your guests will be talking about until your next birthday? A wedding cake to wow every guest? Our artisan bakers and experienced designers are ready to help you celebrate.​

We offer bite-sized treats including brownies, petit fours, cake balls, artisan chocolates, and more. Our signature hand decorated iced shortbread cookies are the perfect complement to any celebration.

executive pastry chef/owner sam major

Pastry Chef Sam Major and his wife, Nancy, realized their dream of owning a bakery when they purchased Tart in September 2016. Originally from Wisconsin and California, the Majors like to say, “We weren’t born in Texas, but we got here as fast as we could!” ​

After graduating valedictorian from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Sam trained with renowned chocolatier Raymond Lammers at what was then Utah’s only five-star, five-diamond property, Stein Eriksen Lodge, in Park City. From there, he assumed the role of Executive Pastry Chef at Utah’s most recognized catering company, Culinary Crafts; and later at Houston’s acclaimed Mark’s American Cuisine. Immediately prior to acquiring Tart Bakery, Sam was the Executive Pastry Chef at Jackson & Company in Houston, where he designed desserts, cakes, and other specialty items for many of the city’s highest profile celebrations.

Sam’s most beloved clients are his own children, who are always planning their next birthday cakes.

ceo nancy major

As CEO of Tart Bakery, Nancy Major leads the implementation of Tart Bakery’s mission and vision. Nancy and her husband, Executive Pastry Chef/Owner Sam Major, ensure Tart is on the cutting edge of dessert trends across America and internationally. Since 2016 when the Majors acquired Tart Bakery, Nancy has overseen the bakery’s operations, finances, human resources, communications, and charitable giving. ​

Prior to leading Tart Bakery Nancy worked in nonprofit development, where she gained valuable experience in sales, marketing, leadership, public speaking, and change management. Under her leadership, Tart Bakery has twice been awarded Top Choice’s Best Bakery Dallas Award (2018, 2019) and has been recognized in numerous publications including Park Cities People, DFW Child, Brides of North Texas, and Modern Luxury Weddings Dallas. ​

Nancy received her undergraduate degree at Duke University and holds a J.D. from Brigham Young University Law School. She and Sam live in East Dallas with their four children: Catherine, Peter, Elisabeth, and Andrew.

our giving

We are proud to support the community we serve. We provide in-kind donations and gift certificates for fundraising events in the Dallas area. We typically do not provide cash sponsorships for events. 

our giving guidelines:

  • Please submit your request at least 30 days before your event. Requests are reviewed the first Tuesday of each month.
  • We support organizations that benefit children, adults, seniors, and families.
  • Priority consideration is given to public and private schools within a 10 mile radius of the bakery; schools serving the Catholic Diocese of Dallas; and organizations that benefit individuals with disabilities.
